Educational Qualifications
To apply for these positions, candidates must meet the required educational qualifications:
- Associate Professor:
- A Master’s Degree in Law with at least 55% marks.
- A Ph.D. in Law.
- Minimum 8 years of teaching experience.
- At least 7 research papers published in recognized journals.
- NET, SLET, or SET qualification is mandatory. However, candidates with a Ph.D. may be exempted under certain guidelines.
- Assistant Professor:
- A Master’s Degree in Law with 55% marks.
- NET, SLET, or SET qualification is required, but Ph.D. holders may be exempted.
- Assistant Professor (Pre-Law):
- A Master’s Degree (M.A.) in subjects like English, Sociology, Political Science, or Economics with at least 55% marks.
- NET, SLET, or SET qualification is required. However, candidates with a Ph.D. may be exempted under specific conditions.
Age Limit
The age limit for different posts is as follows:
- Associate Professor: Maximum age limit is 45 years as of July 1, 2025.
- Candidates with prior teaching experience in law colleges may get up to 5 years of relaxation.
- Assistant Professor & Assistant Professor (Pre-Law): Maximum age limit is 40 years as of July 1, 2025.
- Persons with disabilities can receive an age relaxation of up to 10 years.
- Ex-Servicemen:
- For Associate Professor, maximum age limit is 53 years.
- For Assistant Professor, maximum age limit is 48 years.
Application Fee
Candidates need to pay the application fee online. The fee varies depending on the category:
- General and OBC Candidates: ₹600
- SC, SCA, ST, and Differently-Abled Candidates: ₹300

Selection Process
The selection process consists of multiple stages to ensure fair evaluation of candidates.
- Tamil Language Eligibility Test:
- This test checks the candidate’s basic knowledge of the Tamil language.
- It consists of 30 questions worth 50 marks.
- Candidates must score at least 40% to qualify for the next stage.
- Main Written Examination:
- This exam consists of 175 multiple-choice questions.
- The total marks for the exam are 175.
- Questions will be related to the candidate’s subject.
- Document Verification & Interview:
- Candidates who pass the written exam will go through document verification.
- The interview carries 25 marks.
- For Associate Professors, research work will also be reviewed as per UGC guidelines.
- Final Selection:
- The final merit list will be based on the combined marks of the written exam and interview.
