Educational Qualifications

To apply for these positions, candidates must meet the required educational qualifications:

  1. Associate Professor:
    • A Master’s Degree in Law with at least 55% marks.
    • A Ph.D. in Law.
    • Minimum 8 years of teaching experience.
    • At least 7 research papers published in recognized journals.
    • NET, SLET, or SET qualification is mandatory. However, candidates with a Ph.D. may be exempted under certain guidelines.
  2. Assistant Professor:
    • A Master’s Degree in Law with 55% marks.
    • NET, SLET, or SET qualification is required, but Ph.D. holders may be exempted.
  3. Assistant Professor (Pre-Law):
    • A Master’s Degree (M.A.) in subjects like English, Sociology, Political Science, or Economics with at least 55% marks.
    • NET, SLET, or SET qualification is required. However, candidates with a Ph.D. may be exempted under specific conditions.

Age Limit

The age limit for different posts is as follows:

  • Associate Professor: Maximum age limit is 45 years as of July 1, 2025.
    • Candidates with prior teaching experience in law colleges may get up to 5 years of relaxation.
  • Assistant Professor & Assistant Professor (Pre-Law): Maximum age limit is 40 years as of July 1, 2025.
    • Persons with disabilities can receive an age relaxation of up to 10 years.
  • Ex-Servicemen:
    • For Associate Professor, maximum age limit is 53 years.
    • For Assistant Professor, maximum age limit is 48 years.

Application Fee

Selection Process

  1. Tamil Language Eligibility Test:

    • Candidates must score at least 40% to qualify for the next stage.
  2. Main Written Examination:
    • This exam consists of 175 multiple-choice questions.
    • The total marks for the exam are 175.
    • Questions will be related to the candidate’s subject.
  3. Document Verification & Interview:
    • Candidates who pass the written exam will go through document verification.
    • The interview carries 25 marks.
    • For Associate Professors, research work will also be reviewed as per UGC guidelines.
  4. Final Selection:
    • The final merit list will be based on the combined marks of the written exam and interview.
